Fourth of July Sky

Just some pics I took on the Fourth; the fireworks ones are shaky due to lack of tripod, but I still think they're pretty neat:

My mom's birthday presents!

Since I've been into more crafts lately, she asked that I make her something. Here are the results!

I made this bowl out of an old record I had. I am definitely planning on getting some more from the thrift store just for this purpose.

More pics after the jump!

I also made her a tote bag (my first try) out of an old shirt she had sent Scott that was funny. I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but it is fully lined and has a pocket:

Not bad for a first go. I really hope she likes them!

My first shirt reconstruction

I've been getting into sewing lately, in particular reconstructing old items like t-shirts that I already have. I just got my first sewing machine, and here is my very first t-shirt surgery:

And after! Please ignore my weird pose and facial expression; it's harder than you think to get a decent mirror shot of clothes. :P

Today I made Aiden a ninja set out of scraps:

And finally, my darling new sewing machine:

More craft posts to come!

Jumping on the bandwagon...

...and finally creating a personal blog. In the next few days, I'll be adjusting the layout and styles, adding features and inviting friends and family. I plan on keeping this as an online diary of sorts to chronicle the fun times our family has, as well as my many and varied silly hobbies/undertakings.

Coming up:

  • Beach/4th of July pictures
  • My new obsession with sewing and showing off my projects
  • My field reporter stint with Blogging Top Chef in San Diego!
We'll see how this goes. :D

Ignore the jump on this one; this is the end of the post. There's no editing out that hack on single posts unfortunately.
